Children who have experienced trauma often have a difficult time learning, connecting, attaching, and developing the skills necessary to transition into adulthood. However, trauma-focused interventions aimed at building connection and attachment have proven highly effective in helping children heal.
There are many behavioral, emotional, and mental health resources available in Houston, but therapists and other professionals who utilize trauma-informed modalities are in short supply. We recommend the following resources to families, and we are committed to connecting professionals to training that will increase the supply of trauma-focused interventions accessible to children who come from hard places.
